Complaints
The Immigration Advisers Authority (IAA) was empowered by the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act 2007 to regulate the immigration advice industry.
Since 4 May 2009, immigration advisers based in New Zealand must be licensed to provide immigration advice, unless they are exempt.
The IAA is now responsible for handling complaints against all on-shore licensed advisers and the New Zealand Law Society is responsible for handling complaints against lawyers.
Although the NZAMI is no longer responsible for handling complaints against its on-shore members, the professional conduct of its members is governed by a Code of Ethics.
The NZAMI will continue to handle complaints against its off-shore members until 4 May 2010, when these advisers must become licensed and regulated by the IAA.
If you are considering making a complaint against an off-shore member:
Please read the NZAMI Complaints Process.
